But with the launch of the Series 3, specifically the model with LTE connection, the autonomy has once again been reduced to what the Original Apple Watch offered us: 18 hours. However, the model without a data connection, continues to offer us two days of autonomy like its predecessor, Series 2, a model that has been withdrawn from the market.
But these 18 hours can be reduced considerably if we make use of GPS and telephone calls According to Apple with the autonomy of the Series 3 we can: check 90 times if we have any notifications, use applications for 45 minutes, perform exercised for 30 minutes while listening to music. It also allows us to make calls for an hour from the device itself or three hours if we do it through our iPhone. Although Apple has not specified it, it is assumed that the LTE chip in the Apple Watch will automatically disconnect when it is linked to the iPhone, in order to increase the battery life and not receive notifications and calls on both devices.
The Series 3 allows us to do exercise sessions for 10 hours. But if we go running with the GPS activated, autonomy is reduced to 4 hours. The time to charge 80% of the battery of the Apple Watch Series 3 is an hour and a half with the original charger, but if we want it full we will have to wait two hours. The model with LTE connection is currently not available for reservation in Spain, which could indicate that it is the operators themselves that have to offer the connectivity solution to the user. In the United States, operators are offering an extra data plan for the specific model that is priced at $ 10 per month.
