2 Ways to Capture on 4th Generation Apple TV

The arrival of the new Apple TV to many homes last Friday, is sure to delight all those users who were looking forward to the renewal of the device, which has taken more than three years to arrive. This new Apple TV, in addition to incredibly improving the interior of the device, has also been a renewal of the Apple Remote. How to Capture on 4th Generation Apple TV

With Xcode

  • We install Xcode from the App Store for Mac.
  • Al connect the device via the USB-C cable to our Mac and while it is connected via HDMI to the television we will open the application.
  • We will go to Devices, where the devices connected at that moment are displayed. We select our Apple TV.
  • Information about the device will appear on the right. We will head up to Take Screenshot to take a snapshot of what is currently displayed on the screen.

With QuickTime

  • Once we have connected via USB-C Apple TV to Mac and it is still connected to the television, we will open the native OS X QuickTime application.
  • Next we go to File> New recording and select the Apple TV as an audio and video input device.
  • Once the Apple TV screen is displayed in the QuickTime application, we will press the key combination CMD + ALT + 3 if we want to capture the entire screen or CMD + ALT + 4 if we want to capture only a part of the Apple TV screen that is shown on the screen.
