I am convinced that on more than one occasion, and as if by magic, a great idea has come to mind. At that moment you are busy with work or home tasks but you know that you need to translate that idea somewhere or else, it will probably fall into oblivion. Luckily, for this, note-taking applications emerged, tools that allow us to write and save those ideas, and also keep them in sync between all our devices.
Of course, as time goes by these applications have evolved incorporating a large number of new features and functions that give them a much more useful than taking notes. Today I will show you some of them, but the truth is that if you search the Mac App Store, you will find that the offer is very wide, and almost for all tastes.
Apple Notes
I will start with the most obvious application that all users of the bitten apple have, Apple Notes. The reasons are various, but I would basically summarize them in three:
- Es the native app that we have on our Mac and on all our Apple devices, which prevents us from using additional applications.
- It's called Notes and it's for taking notes, that is, it serves what it is and that prevents us from being distracted by other things.
- It is very simple to use and syncs seamlessly.
Thus, if we talk strictly about taking notice, that is, writing down an idea, a book or movie that has been recommended to us, a small list of tasks, the Apple Notes app for Mac remains my preferred application for it. And of course, also on the iPhone and iPad.
Notebook
Application Notebook it was literally presented as the best alternative to Evernote for iPhone and iPad when the Elephant decided to limit the use of the devices in their free accounts. Now just make the leap to Mac, just what it was missing to keep the notes synchronized, now yes, between all the devices.
If what you like is the notebook or notebook format, so Notebook You're going to love it. In the same note you can add voice notes, images, checklists ... You can also organize your notes as you like, customize the notebooks, protect them with password and Touch ID and furthermore, it is compatible with the Touch Bar of the new MacBook Pros.

Evernote
Of course, if you need a note-taking solution that goes beyond what the average user needs, Evernote is the most complete option that exists, yes, prior subscription because your free plan is limited to only two devices.
But Evernote has an unmatched categorization and tagging system, and a very powerful search engine that allows you to search even in the text found in the images, among many other advantages more oriented to professional use.
air notes
air notes is a "simple but powerful" note-taking application on your Mac. From the menu bar itself you will be able to «write down anything, from a simple note to a long text», as it has no limit, and you can even choose the font to use. It is a fast, intuitive and very simple app, to take notes and nothing else. On the negative side, we find that the corresponding versions for iOS have not yet come out, so you will not be able to have, if you need it, your synchronized notes.
Outline
Another application to take notes on your Mac, and much more. This is a very Evernote-style service, where the contents are organized in notebooks, the notebooks in sections, and the sections in sheets where you write your notes to which you can add text, links, images, voice notes, etc..
Say those responsible for Outline that its structure is similar to the way a tree appears, with trunk, branches and leaves.
It is a very powerful and efficient note taking app, with sync between devices, but nothing cheap. Its price for Mac is € 39,99, while for iPhone and iPad it costs € 4,99.
