AirPods shipments to double to 60 million in 2019

To this day that AirPods have been a success, very few people can deny it. Since their launch in December 2016, Apple's AirPods have become the best-selling bluetooth wireless headphones worldwideThanks to its excellent value for money (and I'm not a fanboy).

The Cupertino-based company has never reported on the number of AirPods it has put on the market, as well as on the number of Apple Watch, which has forced analysts to consult different sources to get a rough idea. The latest shipping data for AirPods is published by Bloomberg, stating that this year, 60 million units will be shipped.

Bloomberg relies on realizing this by stating in sources related to the present and future production of the different products that Apple currently has on the market and represents almost double the number of units in 2018. Part of the increase in sales is due to the launch of the AirPods Pro, the AirPods with noise cancellation that are available on the market since the last month and that apparently they are having a lawsuit that the company did not expect.

I'm not an analyst, but a good part of the increase in AirPods sales is likely due to Battery issues first-gen AirPods are experiencing, a battery that no longer offers the battery life that when they were new due to its continuous use, something that is unfortunately common in all electronic devices.

The poor battery life has forced all users who are satisfied with the AirPods to renew them for the second generation which was launched on the market a few months ago and which includes a wireless charging system as the main novelty, in addition to allowing interaction with Siri through voice commands. Those who have had the opportunity to be patient and wait for the noise-canceling model, have not thought twice and have opted for this new model.
