Apple officially launches macOS Ventura

Ventura

macOS is coming it is already a reality. For barely half an hour, all users with a compatible Mac can update their computers to the thirteenth version of Mac software: macOS Ventura.

A new version that was presented to us in June at the WWDC Annual Apple, and after several months of testing and many beta versions tested by official Apple developers, it has finally been released for all users who have a Mac compatible with the new version of macOS.

From the seven p.m Spanish time, it is now possible to update any compatible Mac with the latest version (the thirteenth) of macOS: macOS Ventura. Let's go by parts.

First we are going to explain what those are «compatible macs«. Basically all those launched by Apple from 2017. That is, the iMacs from 2017 onwards, the iMac Pro, the MacBook Air from 2018 and later, the MacBook Pro from 2017 onwards, the Mac Pro from 2019 and later, and the Mac mini from 2018 onwards too.

If your Mac is on the list, you can download the macOS Ventura update for free using the section Software update within System Preferences, or if you prefer, it is also available through the Mac App Store.

visual organizer

One of the main novelties of macOS Ventura is the new visual organizer. It's a whole new way to focus on a task while you have other applications open. is a feature designed to bring your main app to the front and on the desktop, and put other apps to the side for quick access when you need them.

Continuity chamber

continuity camera

Another great novelty of macOS Ventura. Apple is aware of the poor quality of built-in webcams in Macs, and has solved it "in its own way". Now you can use your iPhone as a webcam. iPhone can be placed on top of your Mac using a dedicated stand, and it's designed to connect automatically. A top-down desktop view uses an ultra-wide angle view to show off your desktop if needed, plus support for Center Framing and Studio Light.

Handoff on FaceTime

Handoff has come to FaceTime on Macs, allowing you to answer calls on the Mac and seamlessly transfer them to iPhone or vice versa. The Messages app has new undo and edit buttons to fix mistakes or retrieve a recently sent iMessage, and there's an option to mark messages as unread. From now on, accidentally deleted messages can be recovered.

New features in Mail

Application Email has received new features in macOS Ventura. One of them is the renewed search function, more relevant and precise than ever. When you click search and start typing, you'll see emails, contacts, documents, photos, and more. The sending of emails can be scheduled, and if you send one by mistake, you can undo the sending up to 30 seconds after sending it.

System Settings

Settings

The Mac no longer has its traditional System Preferences, and finally has a System Settings, very similar to the one we find on the iPhone or iPad. With its sections and menus very similar to those that exist in iOS 16 and iPadOS 16.

A renewed Safari

Safari has also received some new features with macOS Ventura. Apple is planning to make Safari more secure through pass keys, a next generation credential that will replace the typical password. Access keys will remain on the device and will never be on a web server, making them much more secure than passwords. Passkeys are easier to use, with verified logins via Touch ID or Face ID, plus they sync between devices via iCloud Keychain and can be used on non-Apple devices with iCloud Keychain. iPhone authentication.

Photo Library

With macOS Ventura you have a new photo library iCloud Sharing that lets up to six family members share a photo library separate from their personal libraries, so you can more easily enjoy family photos. The Photos app offers smart suggestions for sharing relevant photo moments that family members have participated in, and each user of the shared photo library can add, edit, delete or favorite the photos and videos that have been shared previously.

These are just some of the new features offered by macOS Ventura. So if you have a compatible Mac, you can update it as soon as possible. Well, sooner maybe not. At the moment Apple's servers are heavily loaded with downloads, and the best thing to do is wait an hour, before starting yours. It will go much faster that way.
