Apple acquires many companies quietly without going to the media, and according to a report published by MacRumors, Apple recently acquired the company from Faceshift real-time motion capture. As one suggests tweet sent not long ago (the tweet we put it below), the publication has tried to find out if Apple has acquired Faceshift or not, but as it usually happens, you don't have all the information to be sure if the Cupertino company has bought it.
It seems to have been confirmed by the 'Business Register'Switzerland, where it is confirmed that Faceshift has been bought by a company. While he tried to contact people who may know what has happened to Faceshift, this has become completely obscure on their social media, and there is no real information to grab for solid confirmation. It was known long ago that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has shown interest in face tracking technologies in the pastTherefore this type of purchase would make sense.
@mikeseymour heard Apple bought them.

Interestingly, Faceshift is working on several new consumer projects, one of which includes a Microsoft Skype plugin To use avatars in real time, while performing a video call. In the video that we put a little above, it would undoubtedly be interesting to see this technology available to consumers as shown, because it seems incredible.
Additionally, two Faceshift employees have since updated their profiles LinkedIn, saying that they are both looking for new opportunities. It is certainly worth noting that this would not be the first time that Apple has acquired a company focused on a company in the area of facial recognition. In 2010 the company acquired Polar Rose. And more recently, Apple acquired PrimeSense, which focuses on real-time capture motion in 3D for more than $ 350 millones. So Apple has a bit of a history with these types of purchases, but unfortunately no official confirmations at the moment.
Can you imagine making a facetime call with this option ?.
