Apple hires Nokia executive to take over India

Now that China is beginning to show signs of exhaustion As the main market for smartphone manufacturers, India has become the country where most manufacturers are focusing all their efforts, a country where, little by little, 4G networks have become common throughout the country.

Tim Cook has visited the country on several occasions, a country that is very protectionist with its companies, in order to open own stores in the country, some stores that until relatively recently they did not have the approval of the government, since more than 30% of the devices it sells must be manufactured in the country.

This move has forced Apple to partner with Foxconn for this to open new factories in the country, factories that will be in charge of the manufacture of some of the iPhone models, in order to have the approval of the government. But it seems that the negotiations with the government have not been as satisfactory as Apple could expect, so they have decided to sign a Nokia executive, Ashish Chwdhary, to from now on in charge of everything related to Apple in this country.

Ashish will join Apple's team in India from January 2019, according to the statement that Nokia has sent to the media and in which we can read that Ashish will leave the company at the end of 2018. In this statement it is not mentioned that he will join the ranks of Apple.

Ashish has worked for the past 15 years as Director of Client Operations in the Finnish company and possesses extensive knowledge of the telephony industry in India. For now, and despite the interest that Apple is focusing in this country, sales do not seem to be accompanying. Also, payment technology Apple Pay, suffered a new delay in its launch a little over a month ago.
