Apple patents what could be an iMac with a single sheet of glass

A new patent could bring a new iMac made with only one glass

The iMac was a true revolution at the time of its introduction. Designed by Jonathan Ive it set the path for the desktop computer industry to follow. an all in one, elegant and functional. It is true that it is a device that has not received a real update for quite some time. Nevertheless with this patent it could break the market, if it comes true.

This patent lets us see a revolutionary iMac model, especially because its extreme thinness makes us think that more than a desktop computer, it looks like just a screen. It is almost impossible to think that there will fit everything you need to be able to call it a computer.

A very very thin iMac with premium materials

As always when we talk about patents, it does not mean that Apple is going to turn into reality what are initially written ideas before anyone else, but it would certainly be great to see these ideas on the market. Of course, I am afraid that the price would be quite prohibitive.

Apple's idea from the beginning has been to redesign the iMac with the intention of making it as thin as possible. This patent is an abysmal advance since it would be built with a single sheet of glass. This would also affect the design of the computer itself, which would be totally different from what we see now.

That single blade would have a curved bottom that should hold the computer upright and support the input devices. That glass screen could include a connection for an iSight camera in its usual place above the screen.

If we leave the design as we have explained, it would not be enough to keep it upright, imagine how fine it would be. You need a slotted wedge to fit the curved section between the bottom and the main top panel. That wedge to have more weight and give more balance to the set could house components and inputs for peripherals.

Possible configuration and design ideas do not end here than this iMac could be. By having a single sheet of glass, the options are multiplied thanks to the space that remains to play with it and add other options. We will see if it finally becomes a reality or remains only a patent.
