Apple will have 2nm processors in 2025

It is clear that although there is a shortage of chips, the machinery of said market does not stop for a second. TSMC, the main manufacturer of Apple's ARM processors, will start production of the 2nm architecture chips in 2025.

That means that in that year the devices launched by the Cupertino company will mount processors with said technology: They will be much more fast and efficient than the current ones, based on the 5nm architecture.

DigiTimes today published a report where he explains that the chip manufacturer TSMC will be ready to manufacture processors with technology of 2nm in 2025. If we take into account that it is the one that manufactures all of Apple's ARM processors, it does not take Sherlock Holmes to ensure that the iPhones, iPads and Macs that are launched in 2025 will mount processors with said technology.

Currently, all of Apple's latest chips feature the 5nm production process, including the A15 Bionic of the iPhone 13 series and the entire line of Apple Silicon M1s. According to DigiTimes, TSMC will begin mass production of 3nm chips later this year, and 2nm in 2025, with Apple and Intel among the first customers to use the new processor manufacturing technology.

It is already known that the next model of iPad Pro, which is expected to be announced later this year, will feature a 3nm processor. The current iPad Pro features the 1nm M5 chip, and the 2022 version is expected to include Apple's new "M2." The 3nm process technology presents performance improvements of up to 15% compared to the current one, improving energy consumption by 25%, as explained by its manufacturer, TSMC.

Thus, Apple continues on the path of making its devices increasingly perform better, and consume less, in the coming years.
