Apple will soon start paying the millionaire fine imposed by the EU

We must go back to 2016 when Apple was sentenced to pay penalties for paying taxes. Apple derived the turnover of the products it sells in most EU countries to Ireland, where the tax rate is much lower compared to other countries.

The EU countries that felt disadvantaged by Apple's decision, asked for sanctions from the company. Finally the EU ordered Ireland to collect from Apple the amount of 13.000 million euros, which is equivalent to the illegal billing for the years 2003 to 2014.

Apple and Ireland have rejected the sentence and announce that they will appeal it, so a legal battle looms in the coming years. In any case, Apple will begin to pay off the debt from next month, until next September. On the part of Ireland, this could be sanctioned for non-compliance.

On the demand It is a question of elucidating if the 0,5% tax rate applied to Apple was a favorable treatment towards the company or it applied to any company of similar size.

For Apple attorney Bruce Sewell, this is about a media issue. and so I transfer it in your formal appeal. According to the lawyer, many large companies operate in this way internally and it is not an intention of Apple to evade taxes, but an organizational issue.

Many years of lawsuits and appeals will pass in this regard, meanwhile, the bill will gradually increase. It is true that this is not a unique case of Apple. Other tech companies, like Google, act in the same way.

For now, Ireland will deposit the amount contributed by Apple into an account, as a deposit. If Apple is finally agreed, the European country will return the money collected to Apple. Generally, this type of lawsuit ends in a good agreement for both parties, which does not involve the payment of 13.000 million, if not a lower amount.
