Computer security in large companies is a key element in their operation. An example we have last week when a group of hackers attacked El Corte Inglés servers and stole financial information related to donations to various media that the company had made in the last five years. That information was subsequently leaked to the public through the internet. Hackers claimed that the company's security level is lousy.
Apple is one of the most important technology companies in the world, if not the most important. On its servers it stores information on present and future plans, as well as information related to the projects you are currently working on. That information is worth a lot of money.
Hence, several Apple employees in Ireland have received various offers from various hackers. so that they sell their user data in the company, offering them up to 20.000 euros for that data, as reported by a former employee to the firm Business Insider.
You'd be surprised how many people want access to Apple's servers. Sometimes we have received emails in which they offer us up to 20.000 euros to provide our username and password. They would do the rest.
This former employee claims that hackers contact employees who have just started working in the company instead of those who have been in the company for a while and may become middle managers. To try to prevent employees from being tempted, Apple has created a system called Gow Your Own to try to motivate employees as much as possible.
As has been commented on several occasions, employees on many occasions they don't know exactly what they're working on since they are part of a team with which they have hardly any contact. In theory, it's unlikely that hackers could access information that novice employees can't, but you never know.
