LG announces a new range of 8k TVs compatible with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit

During last year's CES celebration in Las Vegas, Samsung, LG, Son and Vizio announced that their televisions would be compatible with AirPlay 2, Apple's proprietary audio and video streaming technology. As the months have passed, these manufacturers have presented new models, models that follow the same path.

A few days before the 2020 edition of CES, the Korean company LG has officially presented its new commitment to high-end televisions, models ranging from 65 to 88 inches with 8k resolution, compatible with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. Unfortunately, you don't have access to the iTunes catalog or Apple TV + as if they offer the Samsung models.

LG claims that all models that are part of this new 8K TV range exceed the standards set by the Consumer Technology Association. This new range allows us to play 8K content natively through the HDMI and USB inputs and is compatible with HEVC, VP9 and AV1 codecs. It also supports 8K content streaming at 60fps. Everything is possible thanks to the third generation Alpha 9 processor, a processor that allows content to be resized to 8k when necessary.

The technology used in these new models is NanoCell. The IPS panels of LG TVs with NanoCell technology are made up of thousands of nano particles that absorb "useless" light for greater color and contrast accuracy from any viewing angle.

Thanks to the compatibility with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, these new models can be controlled through the Home application of our iPhone, iPad or Mac, so that we can turn it on, off, change the input signal, manage Yes and home automation. Samsung is the only manufacturer that has not wanted to extend these functions to the models it launched before 2019, something that the rest of the manufacturers did.
