LaCie launches new Slim Blu-ray burner

The French company Lacie, a specialist in storage hardware, has launched a new external Blu-ray recorder: Lacie Slim Blu-ray.

LaCie Slim Blu-ray records, re-records and plays video in high definition (HD). You don't need a power adapter, as it is bus-powered, enhancing convenience. And best of all, its lightweight size allows you to take it anywhere.

BD-ROM is not just high definition video. You will enjoy a high definition movie with vibrant sound thanks to LaCie Slim Blu-ray. Blu-ray offers up to eight channels with 192kHz / 32 audio quality. You can store up to four hours of HD video on a 50GB disc, approximately ten times more than on a conventional DVD.

The Lacie Slim Blu-ray write speeds are: BD-R (Single Layer) 6x, BD-R (Dual Layer) 4x; BD-RE (SL or DL) 2x; BD-R LtH 6x, DVD ± R 8x; DVD ± R DL 4x; DVD ± RW 8x; DVD-RW 6x; DVD RAM 5x, CD-R 24x and CD-RW 10x.

The Lacie Slim Blu-ray drive weighs 320 grams and is 2,5 centimeters thick. It is compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7, Mac OS X and Linux. It includes a Cyberlink software package and its recommended retail price is 269 Euros.
