PC sales have been in free fall for several years, but when it seemed that Macs were escaping the burn, we have been several quarters in which the Cupertino-based company is seeing its computer division also being affected by the fall generalized sales of the sector. But unlike PC manufacturers, which have considerably reduced the fall and are even showing positive figures (at least the main manufacturers) the Mac continues in free fall seeing how during this last quarter sales have fallen by 13,4 compared to the previous year.

On October 25, Apple will announce the economic results for the third quarter of the year, but while the date arrives, lThe IDG and Gartner analyst has announced their sales forecast, not only from Apple but from the main manufacturers in the market where we find Lenovo, HP, Dell, Asus and Acer.

According to these figures, Apple has obtained a 7.2% share during the third quarter of 2014, which represents 4,9 million Macs sold, 13,4% less than the 7.8% share obtained during the same period last year and that earned Apple to put 5,7 million Macs into circulation. These forecasts are the worst since computer sales statistics are published. Apple is aware of this and knows that it has to quickly renew its Mac range if it does not want to see sales continue to decline.

Along with Apple, lThe worst sales figures are found in the Taiwanese manufacturer Acer, which is down 14.1%. While in the upper part of the table we find the Chinese Lenovo with a decrease of 2,4%, HP with a rise of 2,3%, Dell with a 2,6% increase and Asus that has seen its sales increase by 2.4% compared to the same period last year.
