MacPlaymate, Apple's lost porn app

MacPlaymate, Apple's forgotten porn app

The scrupulous nature of Apple when it comes to accepting books, movies or applications in its stores is known to all (remember when it pushed back a book only because of its cover), however, this has not always been the case, and a good proof of it is MacPlaymate.

MacPlaymate is a "forgotten" application that, after more than three decades in oblivion, has just been discovered by a redditor. Its content is highly porn, but tremendously fun.

MacPlaymate "heated" Macs from 30 years ago

A redditor (from Reddit) acquired a Macintosh SE (Look, like the iPhone!) Through a buying and selling website called Craigslist. After making the relevant repairs bobwowbob, this is his pseudonym or nick, he began to rummage through the computer to discover everything it contained on his insignificant hard drive of only 20MB (remember that we are talking about a computer from thirty years ago). And boy did he find interesting things. Specifically, a false and hidden folder called AOL inside which it was hidden MacPlaymate, a software with pornographic content that now, so many years later, makes us very funny.

Mike Saez, comic book artist and computer programmer, is the author of this application, a kind of interactive software or game created in 1986 and in which, the first thing we are going to find, is the illustration of a naked girl "giving herself affection".

A controversial game

Throughout this porn game, the user can choose different sex toys to play with this girl, although the truth is that there is not much variety. And of course, you could also print the image, in case you wanted to decorate your living room 😅.

As you can imagine, MacPlaymate generated a great controversy at the time. The company that developed the software that Mike Saez used, Macromind, called it "degrading", and reached an agreement with the cartoonist so that he would donate part of the money raised to an association for the protection of abused women in Chicago.

But with everything, MacPlaymate became the most hacked show according to a survey carried out by The New York Times in 1988 in which, in addition, many users claimed to prefer the Macintosh SE over IBM computers just to see this fictional girl enjoying her toys.

You can watch a video from 2013 below that will guide you through the entire application.
