Netflix has become the most widely used streaming video service in the world on its own merits, there is no doubt about that. Despite future movements in this sector by Disney and Apple, everything seems to indicate that Netflix's reign will continue for years to come.
The Netflix catalog is not only expanded every month, but also continuously work to improve the functions they offer us. The last one is intended for us to increase the consumption of content on its platform through a floating window, at least that is what the tests it is carrying out seem to indicate.
If Netflix was already guilty that your productivity was not what was expected, with this new function you will have to take action on the matter. This new function, which works in a very similar way to the one found in Safari, is currently being tested in Chrome, but presumably when available do so in all available browsers.
The operation is very simple. When we are enjoying a Netflix series, at the bottom, where the playback controls are shown, we find a new icon that presents the PiP function. By clicking on it, the playback will move to a floating window.
That window we can move it anywhere on the screen, make them bigger or smaller and even close the playback. The playback window will remain above all the windows that we have open on our computer.
At the moment this function only available in tests for a certain number of users, so it is not official yet. Let's hope that one day the guys at Netflix will bother to launch an official application to be able to enjoy their streaming video service through an application as if we can find it in the Windows ecosystem.
