Nike + Run Club update: we can go for a run with just the Apple Watch

The collaboration between Apple and Nike regarding the joint push with the Apple Watch running app is paying off. Until now, certain functions of the application required an iPhone to run. But lThe application has grown and does not require this dependence on the iPhone. Therefore, going for a run with our Apple Watch increasingly resembles the watches of brands specialized in running and sports of all kinds. With the new update of Nike + Run Club, allows us to measure distance, speed and other parameters, without having to carry the iPhone with you.

The use remains the easiest and most intuitive. The functions of the application are executed without having the Apple phone available. Now we can indicate the step by lap or the running intervals, just by pressing twice consecutively on the Apple Watch. In contrast, the voice-over trainer function requires at least the iPhone for now.

The application update message informs us of the following:

This is what's new in version 5.7.0 where we've been busy. Take a look at our latest enhancements:

Speed run has arrived. You can now mark intervals and laps using the running speed feature on your watch - a double tap on the main screen during the run to mark the intervals

IMPORTANT: It is necessary to authorize the NRC to access Motion y Fitness Activities in order to track the race

For best results on Apple Watch, it is recommended to use watchOS 3.2.2 or higher.

Additionally, bugs have been corrected and new improvements have been incorporated.

We have the new update available in the app store, for any Apple watch, Apple Watch Series 2 and of course, the Apple Watch Nike +. In series 1 it is possible to update, but we must get the iPhone with us as it lacks GPS

    Hola!
    I'm new around here.
When we sprint with rest intervals, does the rest count as one more interval or does the race have to be paused?
    Thanks in advance!
