The University of Northeast Mississippi has received from Apple the award as distinguished school by the company.
Apple, as you know, is not only devices and technology. Long ago for climate change,help in AIDS research y also in the implementation to improve education in schools and universities.
Apple Award to Northeast University of Mississippi for Innovations with Apple Devices.
Northeast becomes the first Mississippi state university to receive this award, which only have 8 universities in the whole world.
The award is awarded when an institution uses Apple devices for education and it allows students and the University or school itself to improve in various aspects.
When Northeast incorporated the iPad as the only education system at the University saved a total of $ 6 million on books and students improved their grades.
For this reason Dr. Jon Landis, Apple's national development executive, He stated:
«This award was developed quite some time ago to recognize schools that fulfill their vision and go on to use Apple technologies.
In order to get this award, the educational institution must comply with minimum for two years:
- The students must use an iPad or Mac as the primary learning device and the teacher as the primary teaching device.
- The study plan must have apple apps built-in and third-party educational apps from the App Store.
- 75% of teachers must be recognized as Apple teachers certificates.
- The students should have seen a improvement due to Apple curriculum and technology involved.
Then the school may contact Apple for award evaluation. Continued use of the award must be reevaluated over the three-year period.
