Now that we are in summer, what does Apple say about the water resistance in the Apple Watch?

Apple Watch Water

Go ahead, Apple is going to clean its hands if you have a problem with your Apple Watch and it has gotten wet. Like the rest of the devices of the Cupertino company, Apple smart watches have a sensor that detects the entry of water into the deviceIf this jump, forget about possible "free" repairs even if the watch is under warranty.

This is not something exclusive to Apple, all firms that add water resistance to their devices wash their hands in case it has a problem and water is detected inside. So it is not something exclusive to Apple but let's put this aside to focus on what really interests us. Can we wet the Apple watch on the beach, pool, etc?

Personally, I do not usually use the Apple Watch when I go to the beach or the pool, I do not take a shower with it, although it is true that you do physical activity with the position and once I finish I usually wipe the sweat with water. In this case I know that there are many people close to me who use it in the sea, swimming pool and others, there is no problem for it and it continues to work without problem.

Can I swim or shower with the Apple Watch on?

From Apple they have a web section in which they show details about the use of the Apple Watch in the water. In this case they speak of the Apple Watch Series 1 and the Apple Watch (1st generation) models that are resistant to water and splashes, but it is not recommended to submerge them. The rest of the models already have a greater resistance to water and from Series 2 onwards the firm says that they can be used in superficial aquatic activities, such as swimming in the pool or in the sea. These watches are clearly not made for activities such as diving or impact water.

From Apple they tell us that we can take a quiet shower with these watches but that they do not recommend using any type of soap, shampoos, conditioners, lotions or perfumes, since they can affect the hydraulic seals and acoustic membranes. When cleaning the Apple Watch it is recommended to use fresh and warm water then dry it with a lint-free cloth such as microfiber. It is also not recommended to use the watch in saunas or steam rooms.

Water resistance is not a permanent condition and it can decrease over time. The Apple Watch cannot be retested or re-sealed to regain water resistance, which means that once the display is opened it will lose its resistance to liquids.
