An original copy of Apple's iconic 1984 beta ad goes up for auction

On many occasions we have talked about the iconic ad that Apple ran in the 1984 Super Bowl, an ad that encouraged us to reveal ourselves. There is a lot of history surrounding this announcement, a story that continues to grow with the item that will be up for auction shortly. We are talking about an original copy in Beta format that contains two different versions.

The auction has already started with a starting price of $ 3.500 and it is expected that by its end date, on May 8, this Beta tape will have reached a figure between $ 10.000 and $ 15.000. This tape has never been reproduced and is in its original seal for the Apple mythologian who wants to expand his collection.

The tape has been signed by the late Brent Thomas, artistic director of the ad. This belta comes from his estate and is a copy of the two versions seen by the board of directors of Apple before deciding which of the two versions was broadcast in the Super Bowl. Created to promote the Macintosh computer, this ad first aired on the last day of 1983 at 1:00 AM on Idaho television so that it could participate in the advertising awards to be held in 1984.

When Apple executives viewed the ad, They did not like me at all and they were about to sell the advertising space that they had contracted to air it in the Super Bowl, something that Steve Jobs avoided allowing this commercial to become one of the most memorable of the company.

The auction winner, in addition to the Beta tape of this announcement, you will not have to unseal it at any time to see the content (if you have a Betamax) since it also enters a copy on a pendrive with all the content found inside, along with a certificate of authenticity signed by the late Brent Thomas.

that tape is not beta but umatic, the beta is a domestic format and it was never used on television professionally, it is only necessary to search in google images to verify it
