We have been with Siri on the Mac for a long time and it is expected that the most important possible improvements or changes will be published by Apple this year 2017 at the WWDC in San José, but while these improvements do not reach our Macs, it is good to remember one of the functions that most I use in front of the Mac, run applications. It is normal that many of us do not use it due to "laziness" when clicking on the Siri button, but we can always use the trick to make the assistant appear when we call her, although it is true that when you get used to using the button it is not a hassle either.
Well, now the interesting thing comes and is that in certain applications in addition to being able to use the Siri assistant to open the application and let us work with it, there are some phrases that allow us to interact a little more with it, such as asking to open the Photos application and find us photos from January 2015. Siri will open the application and display the results, but this is not the thing since we can ask for places or even for faces. It's very interesting to try it out and in the end you end up using more than the assistant thought, many of us need to get used to it. There are many more tasks that we can ask the assistant:
- Tell us about a sporting event or about a soccer team
- Seeing what they do in the movies is great with Siri. This is nothing new but it seems great to me to be able to see the cinema billboard in an instant to see the films that are showing
- Finding files in the Finder is very easy. Show documents, files or PDFs that we have in the Finder and even inside a folder
- Being able to adjust the brightness, volume or some settings is great and really functional with Siri since you don't have to press anything, just ask.
- Starting a FaceTime or sending a message with the Messages application is another of the tasks that Siri performs
- We can also ask you to find us a place to eat as long as we have the location active. Siri will launch a list of nearby restaurants
- Putting music on the Mac is another option we have with Siri
- Publish on social networks Twitter or Facebook as well as on iOS
There are many more options available to use it, the problem as I say is the lack of habit of the user or even in some cases some embarrassment.
