Not only does Apple live from OS X El Capitan, but it also continues to pay attention to its current operating system, which is none other than OS X Yosemite 10.10, for this reason yesterday Thursday it launched the second beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 directed to developers to test their applications and system failures to report them for the final version, which will presumably be the latest version of OS X Yosemite before OS X 10.11 appears.
The system build has been labeled as 14F19a and in order to access it we can do it as always very easily, that is, from the updates tab of the Mac App Store or simply from the Apple developer portal we can download both the update and the combo version.
This second beta of OS X 10.10.5 comes two weeks after the first beta for developers and only a month after OS X 10.10.4 was released to users. Plus it also comes on the same day as the iOS 2 beta 8.4.1, suggesting that Apple is trying to fine tune its two operating systems before its major system updates arrive this fall.
With this in mind, we don't expect to see new features in OS X 10.10.5 beyond stability and reliability improvements of the system. This is why Apple basically confirms in the release notes that the OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 update improves the stability, compatibility and security on your Mac, without giving more details about other news.
Earlier this week, Apple also released the beta 5 of OS X El Capitan to developers and of which a public launch in the coming months. That update will include quite a few new features but will also focus on reliability and other performance-related improvements.
