Lexus and Toyota to adopt CarPlay technology starting next year

Since its official presentation at WWDC 2014, CarPlay technology little by little has been the object of interest by different car manufacturers Today, most of them already offer us compatibility with this system that allows us to manage the content of our device from the vehicle's multimedia screen.

Currently, many are the manufacturers that have adopted this technology once they have verified how their multimedia system was outdated and of practically no use for users, in addition to not being an attraction for future buyers. But today, not all manufacturers offer this multimedia connection system with our iPhone. Toyota and Lexus, without going any further, will begin to implement it from 2019.

According to the Japanese company, the first model to launch this technology will be the Avalon model, and later it will be extended to the rest of the company's models, since initially Toyota will debut this technology in the United States, so European users will have to wait a few months to enjoy it. CarPlay will be compatible with all vehicles whose version of the multimedia center operating system, Entune, is 3.0 or later.

Entune 3.0 is now available on several company vehiclesBut they won't be able to enjoy CarPlay until next year. The spokesperson for the company that announced this launch, has not been able to specify, or has not wanted, about whether the implementation will be via cable or wirelessly. But it won't be the only manufacturer adopting CarPlay in its vehicles, as Toyota's luxury vehicle division Lexus will also adopt this system throughout 2019.

Toyota joins long list of manufacturers currently offering CarPlay in the United States, a list made up of Ford, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai, Kia and Volkswagen. CarPlay is currently available in more than 200 makes and models around the world.
