We discovered late last year that Apple was looking to hire software engineers with experience in game interfaces and programs with virtual reality, But new offers from I work this week, Apple seeks virtual reality hardware engineers.

Apple is seeking a 'Senior Display Systems Engineer', who will study the development of display systems related to virtual reality environments. More specifically, Apple is looking for someone with experience in monitoring and projection technologies, to help with environments hi-fi virtual reality.

At job posting posted by Apple specify the following:

  • Display systems.
  • Specification for testing in virtual environments.
  • Work with vendors to develop solutions for custom display.
  • Design and selection of components appropriate hardware and software to optimize fidelity, in a variety of environments virtual reality.
  • Business image sequences displayed on screens using specialized hardware.
  • Work closely with the software, electronics, and mechanical engineers team during testing and during integration.

A second job published by Apple, is looking for a senior software engineer, to support the efforts of software engineers, to graphics in virtual reality environments. The engineer must know pipeline image display sequences rendered by hardware.

Job offers also mention the experience with motion capture systems, which immediately makes us think about the acquisition of PrimeSense by Apple, the company originally behind the sensor used in the Microsoft Kinect.

While the job openings for application engineers, they were looking for people experienced with Oculus Rift and other types of VR hardware.

Apple has very high goals, and some of this work will never see the light of day, but it seems that Apple is very serious about studying virtual reality in one way or another.
