We teach you to repair the library if it is giving you problems in Photos

app-photos-osx

The Photos application that has been with us for a while usually works perfectly but from time to time unexpected failures may occur ranging from not being able to access certain photos, failed photo imports, missing thumbnails ... even until the application freezes completely, having no choice but to close it and run it again, hoping that everything goes well.

If we find any of these bugs in library management issues, it can be activated manually repairing any photo library and that in most cases it will be enough to tackle the problem. However, although repairing the library is supposed to fix these aforementioned problems, it is a good idea to back up your Mac and its photo library to Time Machine or your usual program before beginning the repair.

Repair-photo-library-photos-0

To carry it out, we will simply exit photos if we have the application open and we will run it again but this time holding down the Cmd + Alt keys before clicking on the Photos icon. Once we run the program, a message will appear in the application itself to confirm that our photo library will be repaired.

Then we will click on Repair and we will see a progress bar at the bottom that will take more or lesss depending on the process speed of the equipment, the size of the library, and many other factors. If after this repair we see that we have not managed to solve the problem, we can use iPhoto again in its place and carry out this same operation to repair the library in said application before migrating the library back to Photos as we explained in this other entry.

Soy de Mac from years ago and I have several... but the photo library seems like garbage to me, sorry. Always locked. I have had to divide it into fragments (I have about 80 GB now) and after 20 it is a problem to manage it on any of my latest Macs. Rebuild, etc... I think it's better to just store the files and that's it.

I have problems with my iPhone 6, I have the photo library active and I no longer want to have it, it is a problem to be able to share my photos, why does a circle appear that says repairing and from there it does not happen, even if I do not have a Wi-Fi signal the photo is blurred and below a sign. I already restored it and I put the iCloud backup again why it does not appreciate all my photos, but it continues the same, better deactivate it and it says that in 30 days everything will be deleted and I do not want to delete the photos, I no longer know how to do the The photo library is a super mistake, I prefer not to have support for anything than to be struggling with this, what can I do?

Hello! At night I moved my photos from my cell phone to my macbook library, the photo library opened excellently. Then I wanted to move my 900 photos to a USB and they could not be loaded, I close the library with the idea of reopening to start the operation again but it freezes in "closing photo library" and now it does not open! What I need to do? I don't want to lose all the bad photos I have saved so far!
