What is "Departure time" for in the calendar

When we go into the functions that we have available in the calendar of our Mac we realize the many functions that we have available. Departure time is one of them and today we will see what it is for and why it is important to have this option activated even though it registers the location every so often. Obviously it is not necessary to have this option active in many cases, but it must be clear that it is enabled by default in macOS so we all have it active.

Departure time

What is departure time for?

It is simple. This option is activated by default to measure the time it takes to get to a place from the site where we are depending on the real circumstances of traffic and other factors. This option is interesting to measure distances and above all fundamental to roughly calculate the time the journey will take.

It can be deactivated in a simple way by accessing the Calendar of our Mac, entering the Preferences and clicking on the Notices tab located at the top. There we will find the option "departure time" already marked and what we can do is deactivate it if we do not want it to show us these notices. In addition, as this option explains well at the bottom, it will not offer us notices for destinations or routes of more than three hours of travel and it is that they believe that the traffic would change too much in this period of time so it would not be realistic to calculate three hours or more for a journey.
