First class action lawsuit against Apple for the incorporation of the butterfly keyboard in MacBook

MacBook with Butterfly keyboard

The butterfly keyboard had to be (and is) very bad for it to continue to be talked about. So bad is it, that now long after Apple removed it from the market, a lawsuit against Apple for the inclusion of this keyboard has been accepted regardless of the MacBook that had it. So at least informs Verge which states that the demand covers all MacBook models They feature a butterfly keyboard.

The first MacBook to have the unfortunate honor of having the butterfly keyboard was the 12-inch back in 2015. It later came to other MacBook models, such as the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air. Although it is not the first time that a lawsuit has occurred for this fact, we can talk about it being the first time that the lawsuit it is presented collectively.

The lawsuit was admitted by Judge Edward Dávila on March 8 in California, but was only opened until the end of last week. Right now, the class action lawsuit covers people who bought a MacBook with a butterfly keyboard. in seven states: California, New York, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, and Washington. The lawsuit specifies that the affected MacBook models include the 12-inch MacBook (purchased between 2015 and 2017), the MacBook Pro (between 2016 and 2019) and the MacBook Air (between 2018 and 2019). The justification for the lawsuit is based on Apple knowing that the butterfly keyboard was defective, and even cites an internal communication between Apple executives in which one said that 'no matter how much lipstick I try to put on this pig, it is still ugly », Referring to the butterfly keyboard.

The law firm that started the lawsuit is inviting anyone from across the United States to join it. Although at the moment they are not initiating the procedures for it to become a National demand.

I honestly loved that keyboard, I had it on a 13 MBP 2017 and I miss it on my 16 MBP 2019. It was too delicate a piece of engineering, but it was a joy.
