New 9-core Intel i10 iMac and Radeon Pro 5300 appear on Geekbench

iMac

There is something that escapes me in this new move that Apple has gotten into and that has been called Apple Silicon. I fully understand that you want to transfer all Intel Macs to some with ARM CPU made to measure, like the rest of Apple devices, and how good it is giving them.

This change is already underway, and more advanced than we thought before WWDC 2020. In fact, Apple is already shipping the first Mac mini ARM beta to developers so they can start programming on them. But what does not add up to me is that Apple itself said that it is still going to launch a new Intel Mac on the market. Today a new Intel iMac has already been detected in the Geekbench results.

The user @rogame has published on Twitter results of Geekbench a bit strange. Such data shows a previously unannounced iMac model that is equipped with a 9-core Intel i10 processor under the hood.

As stated in the original report, this appears to be an Apple exclusive chip, customized for Apple and this particular Mac model. However, generally speaking, the chip Intel Comet Lake-S The tenth generation debuted for the first time in April of this year.

El Core i9-10910, has been detected inside an unreleased Apple iMac device, which means it could be a SKU that will be exclusive to Apple. Being a member of the Core i9 family, the CPU comes with the same base specs as the other variants. In this case, the processor has 10 CPU cores, 20 threads, and 20 MB of L3 cache. Ultimately, the clock speeds listed are what sets the Core i9-10910 apart from its siblings.

According to Geekbench data, the Core i9-10910 operates with a clock frequency of 3,6 GHz Turbo Boost at 4,7 GHz. Clock speeds suggest that the Core i9-10910 is fundamentally a Core i9-10900 turned upside down. Doing the math, the Core i9-10910 appears to have a 28.6% higher clock frequency than the Core i9-10900.

A more powerful i9 and Radeon

A Mac mini ARM is already shipping to developers And a new Intel iMac appears?

The Geekbench test also shows us that there is another different piece of equipment within this particular machine, the graphics card. AMD Radeon Pro 5300. This can feature a maximum clock speed of 1.650 MHz, and it could have 4 GB of onboard memory.

This GPU may be the desktop variant of the Pro Radeon 5300M that AMD announced last year. The only downside here is that when this new iMac is introduced, this particular configuration is likely to be reserved for the more expensive variants.

It might be announced this monthConsidering there were rumors that Apple was going to show off a new desktop computer at this year's Worldwide Developers Conference, and that it ultimately didn't show up.

We could also think that because of the happy pandemic of the coronavirus This new iMac has been delayed for a while, and doesn't show up until July or August. But then the bloody question is: Will Apple release an Intel iMac just a couple of months earlier than the first ARM Macs? Weird, weird….
