Although the latest news related to the security of macOS and Safari in particular, does not ensure the privacy of our data, we must know that Apple allows you to save your card or payment cards in macOS so that when making a purchase we do not have to go to our wallet to get the card, copy the numbers one by one and pay with it.

This option is, until the current version of Mojave, only for payments through Safari. We must know that although vulnerabilities are found in the Safari browser, it continues to be safe.

On the other hand, we will see later that this system does not save our CCV number that we must enter manually. On the other hand, more and more financial institutions have double verification activated for those payments over the internet that are compromised.

In any case, in Soy de Mac We explain the process of adding a card, deleting it and making the payment with the card that you have in Safari preferences. This tutorial is for Safari 10.14.3 or later. For it:

Safari Preferences

  • You must go to Safari and access Preferences clicked on the word Safari which is in the upper left.
  • In the third option, you will find Autofill. Press it.
  • The third option is Tarjetas de crédito. Now you must mark the blue tick and click on edit.
  • A new screen is enabled for enter the card number and expiration (Remember that you must remember the CCV because it asks for it in most purchases and macOS does not save it for security)
  • On this same screen you can delete cards that you don't use for various reasons.
  • After making all the settings, press Accept.

From now on, when you are making a purchase with Safari and it asks for the card number, Safari will suggest the card or cards you have available to make the purchase. Select the desired one and make the purchase. That easy. It is expected that in the next version of macOS this option must be confirmed with Touch ID on Macs that have this feature.
