Adobe presents the Scribbler project to colorize black and white photos thanks to AI

Apple is totally immersed in Artificial Intelligence to improve its applications and progress, but it is not the only one. Today we have met in the contest organized by Adobe, the AdobeMAX 2017, a project known as scribbler. Use Artificial Intelligence to recognize images in photographs or even drawings, to color facial features. Also, apparently in the samples, with great precision. Behind all this work, there is an Adobe work team, which we know as Adobe senseiwhich is responsible for implementing these actions in the Adobe suites.

According to the demonstrations provided by the person in charge of jingwanlu to the participating media, which allows the study of a multitude of facial photographs, to recognize them in the drawing that is in black and white, to move on to color the same. The success of the application is high, not only in the colors, but also in the shading of the contours of the face, but it also acts with the same success, each of the objects that appear in the photograph.

This supposes a important advance for many sectors. In the presentation, the sketches made by designers were given as an example. Once the images have been processed, we can transform these sketches into colorful images and in a couple of seconds assess each one of the changes made, to make a decision as quickly as possible.

It is the second step that Adobe takes in this regard, after the presentation of the project last July. At the moment it is a technology in an experimental phase, therefore, it is not expected to be incorporated into Adobe applications, such as Lightroom, presented this week. When it is ready, predictably, we will see this option in Creative Cloud, Adobe's cloud services platform, where photography would be treated, to be later used in the company's different applications.
