Will the concept of possible lightning EarPods affect MacBooks?

Little is left of today and an idea has come to my mind that although it is a bit far-fetched, it could come true in a few years or perhaps less. Lately we are witnessing an endless number of new ideas that Apple has implemented in its products. We know that the world of the iPhone is very powerful but the world of the Mac, which is what we are talking about in this blog, is not far behind.

That is why we could think that if, as is happening with OS X, a system that has inherited concepts from its younger brother iOS, we could have in the future MacBook computers without the lifelong audio jack. As I have said, it is a bit of a crazy idea, but have you ever stopped to think if that would be possible or not? And feasible?

The truth is that I am already tired of hearing that the idea of a possible iPhone without a jack is a very, very bad idea. We are in a world in which new technologies do not stop evolving and I cannot imagine a connector like the jack in the year 2050. The quality of the products that we currently have are showing that things are evolving in such a way that what we know today in a few years will remain as just another concept in technology museums in many countries.

Who would have thought that the much loved, at the time, scart would become what is today the mini HDMI? We would all have said at that time that it was impossible for a certain company to dare to change the first for this tiny and powerful port. The same has happened with the USB-C that the current ones mount 12 inch Macbook. I have one in gold with a 512 GB SSD and I have not seen a major problem with the USB-C port other than waiting for the market to adapt. Curiously, the other day I saw a dual USB-C pendrive for the first time in Media Markt.

Well, the same thing will happen with sound. I think that sooner or later we are going to attend a well-deserved "retirement" of the audio jack. Apple knows that is going to happen and is beginning to study options to make its devices as advanced as possible. Do you think Macs will be left without this evolution? I don't think so and The 12-inch MacBook is a perfect example that Apple's ovens are already cooking something for WWDC 2016.
