After buying Xnor.ai, Apple cancels collaboration with Pentagon

Apple buys the company Xnor specialized in Artificial Intelligence to promote this sector.

A couple of weeks ago, we informed you of the Apple's latest acquisition. We talk about the company Xnor.ai, a company that became part of the conglomerate of companies that Apple buys every year and whose main activity is in the artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Apple paid 200 million dollars, according to various sources, to get hold of this company's technology, technology that in the future will become part of both Siri and the different services that Apple offers us and that are related to machine learning. What was not known was that Xnor.ai worked for the Pentagon.

We users did not know, since obviously Apple did have that information. Xnor.ai was working on the Maven project, and I say it was because Apple has terminated the contract that the US government had. The Maven project was born with the aim of analyze the billions of data collected by the Donald Trump administration and that they cannot be processed by people.

Maven is a project that was born to take advantage of artificial intelligence and machine learning to be able to analyze and detect possible cases relevant to safety. Google and Amazon are other companies that, despite the discomfort that some of their workers have expressed, continue to actively collaborate with the government.

The main reason why Apple has stopped collaborating with the Pentagon is mainly due to flexible company principles, and I say flexible, because when a government demands something from Apple, as are the cases of Russia and China, Apple passes the principles where we all know.

Considering the excellent relationship that Tim Cook and Donald Trump seem to have, it is likely that this announcement be facing the gallery, but either directly or indirectly, the collaboration will continue.
