On December 11, the rumor that had been published a few days before was confirmed, in which it was stated that the Cupertino-based company had acquired Shazam, the application that almost everyone uses to know what songs are playing around them and to be able to play them later or directly through their Apple Music account, or Spotify.
Apple paid slightly more than 400 million dollars for the company, but as usual, the statement that Apple sent to the media did not inform about future plans that Apple has after this purchase, but it is more than likely that the artificial intelligence that it uses to recognize the songs, will become part of Siri.
For now, Apple's first move is found outside the company, since Microsoft's assistant, Cortana, in both the Windows 10 desktop version and the mobile version, no longer able to recognize songs. Microsoft had reached an agreement with Shazam, as well as the agreement that allowed Siri to recognize the songs, to recognize the songs in our environment without making use of the application, something that Google Assistant does directly without having to resort to Shazam in no time.
Jason Deakins, Cortana's software engineer has confirmed the news through his Twitter account, stating the ability to recognize Cortana songs has been removed after closing Microsoft's streaming music platform, Groove Music, on December 31, passing the clients that the platform had directly to Spotify. Although it no longer offers this function, if we make use of the available function, the assistant will inform us with the following message: I found the song: song not recognized.
