Both manufacturers have launched a new firmware update that allows the models that hit the market in 2020, to stream content from the Mac, iPhone and iPad to the television without having to use the Apple TV or any other device. In addition, it also allows control televisions using voice commands and through the Home application.

AirPlay 2 and HomeKit have expanded their reach to a number of third-party devices in recent years. The main TV manufacturer, Samsung and LG were the first to support both AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, although the manufacturer LG limited the number of upgradeable models that had already hit the market at the time of the announcement.

Sony has been one of the manufacturers that the longer it took to update the firmware of the models already available on the market, but as the saying goes: better late than never.

Both the Toshiba 4K UHD Smart Fire TV 2020 with Dolby Vision and the Insignia 4K UHD Smart Fire TV 2020 are the two models. bestsellers of both manufacturers which are already compatible with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit.

If you have any of these devices, you must follow the setup instructions that appear on the screen to be able to control the TV through the Home application, or with Siri commands. Through the home app, we can turn the TV on and off, adjust the volume and change the input source.

To send content through AirPlay 2, we just have to go to the device from which we want to share the content and click on Duplicate screen.
