Almost 11 years of Mac mini is many years

In 2015 it was 10 years since Apple launched the first Mac mini and we are reaching 11 years of its existence that will be completed in January 2016. The company with the bitten apple made a change in its approach to selling on Mac when he launched in January 2005 his first Mac mini.

These new Macs did not add more than the box with the hardware, the cable to connect to the current, the warranty booklet and the installation CD of OS X. All this to save money for users who wanted to make the leap from Windows to OS X, since it was possible to take advantage of the monitor, keyboard and mouse that the buyer had.

2005

The A1103 model Mac minis were the first Mac minis to hit stores and stores.u price varied 100 dollars between the most powerful model and the least powerful. The least powerful had a 40GB hard drive and a 7447 GHz PowerPC 4A (G1,25) processor, it was priced at $ 499 while the top model was $ 599 and had the same processor but faster 1.42 GHz Combo and 80 GB of hard disk. In both models the RAM was 256 MB expandable up to 1GB (it only had one memory slot) and Apple did not recommend expanding it despite not losing the warranty to do so.

During the same year of its launch and during the month of September 2005, Apple updated the Mac mini adding to the compact Mac desktop 512 MB of RAM. So it was very funny to the buyers, but that's how it was.

2006

In the month of February 2006 Apple launches its second version of the Mac mini with a better processor and with the same 512 MB of RAM but this time expandable up to 2 GB and with new prices: $ 599 for the 1.5 GHz and a good $ 799 for the 1.66 GHz. Again apple carried out the same operation and launched the new model with better internal hardware during September of the same year but kept the prices.

2007

For the next Mac mini (mid 2007) Apple takes a little longer to launch it and realizes that it is not good to launch two models with small changes in the internal hardware and different prices since more than helping, they harm the user who knowing «the play »awaits the purchase for the second version of the year. In this case, Apple not only does not launch the model at the beginning of the year - it launched it in August 2007 - but also seems to forget about it and does not update it until 2009. This time the prices were held at $ 599 for the model with the new 2 GHz Core 1.83 Duo and at $ 799 for the 2.0 GHz model. In addition, the RAM increased up to 1 GB in both cases. This model is already in the models discontinued by Apple, in the called vintage.

2009

Reached the month of March 2009 Apple returned to look at the small Mac adding improvements in the rear connections of the same and increasing the power of the internal hardware. This time Apple left the Mac mini with the same price 599 dollars for the model of 1 GB of RAM, 120 GB of hard disk and 128 MB VRAM. For the $ 799 model the Mac mini added 2 GB of RAM, 320 GB of hard disk and 256 MB of VRAM.

That same 2009 the guys from Cupertino launched two other new improved models. This time they arrived in October and Apple seemed to go back to its old ways with modifying a Mac before the end of the year, these Mac minis cost the same $ 599 and $ 799. In the case of the cheapest Apple, it added the 2.26 GHz dual core, with 2 GB of RAM, and 160 GB of hard disk, and for the most expensive model the processor reached 2.53 GHz, with 4 GB of RAM and 320 GB of hard disk. Today Apple continues to support and parts to users who have this Mac mini.

2010

Year of changes and Apple redesigns the Mac mini in line with the new internal hardware components and offers a more remote appearance than it was. It adds the aluminum in the outer casing just like in the MacBook and mounts inside a Dual-core 2.4 GHz, 2 GB of RAM and 320 GB of hard disk for $ 699. This Mac mini will be the last to add the DVD reader and of those that hardly allow internal hardware modifications.

In June of the same year Apple added the Mac mini Server. These no longer add the DVD player and the price of the pampering reaches 999 dollars with an internal configuration of: 2.66 GHz dual core processor, 4 GB of RAM memory and two 500 GB hard drives.

2011 – 2014

During these years Apple did not change the price of the Mac mini but it did add improvements to them. Also during the past year Apple added a Mac mini model with fewer features in terms of internal hardware but much cheaper, this costs $ 499 and is the entry model for current Mac mini. Many users ask us if it is interesting to buy this economic model and although it is true that the price is attractive and can be really useful for a sector of specific users, we find the next available option of $ 699 a much better option.

¿2015?

This year it seems that Apple will let the change or update of the current model pass not even in the processor, so it does not seem that we will see anything new this year in the Mac mini that are close to achieving 16 years in the product catalog from Apple.
