Jailbreak "almost complete" to watchOS, for now

Apple Watch buttons

Although it is no longer a topic that is on everyone's lips due to the innumerable improvements that, version after version, each one of the new versions of iOS is incorporating, the jailbreak seems to have lost some sense in the iPhone although there are still followers of the apple who want to have a system more to their liking.

However, if we think about the Apple Watch, it is not until now, with the Apple Watch Series 3 model and the version of the watchOS 4.1 system that some developers have managed to make jailbreak this version of the "almost complete" smart watch system.

Although as a user of the Apple Watch since it was put on sale in its first version, it has never crossed my mind to hack the system itself, there are many users, especially developers and people with other concerns. have been interested in jailbreaking watchOS.

In this case, the developer Thimstar has been in charge of taking the first steps in this jailbreal, for now incomplete that you can see in GitHub. When we talk about a "almost complete" jailbreak, it means that surely from some other problem when installing it and the clock may not work properly once you reboot. That is why if you are not totally sure or are afraid of leaving your Apple Watch useless, it is better not to venture into this version of the jailbreak.

Among the actions that can be done on the Apple Watch with the jailbroken system we have:

  • Access the kernel using v0rtex.
  • It allows reading and writing in the files of the root.
  • Extra the bootstrap.tar package
  • Allows access to root.

It must be emphasized that it only works on Apple Watch Series 3 and with watchOS version 4.1. Otherwise, it cannot be executed. Before finishing this article I would like to know your opinion regarding jailbreak a watch like Apple's. Are these actions justified in any way?
