There comes a time when many of us move to other locations to spend a few days, but those of us who work in the world of computing (and it also happens in other sectors) we never completely stop working and that requires hiring an extra fee to use with a USB stick or share the connection from the mobile. On both occasions, we will most likely see how the megabytes fly.
Economy mode
It would be nice if OS X incorporated a mode in which data spending was the least possible, but it's not like that, so it's up to us to get into mode slicer. For this, it is best to stop using apps that consume a lot of data such as Spotify or Twitter, but without a doubt what will save you the most data is to deactivate the images, since the vast majority of the load data of a website are images.
To deactivate them you have to perform the following steps:
- Open Safari and go to Preferences
- In Advanced activate the Development menu
- Open the Development menu (menu bar) and click on Disable Images
If you want you can play with it rest of options, but without a doubt the one that will save you the most data will be this. It's great for me, especially for browsing forums, where the image load is high and we can melt a few megabytes per load.

Another option is to use, also from the development menu, in the User Agent section, select Safari iOS
