Android Wear 2.0: improvements to compete directly with the Apple Watch

SmartWatch

Since today, February 9, 2017, A is officially updated to version 2.0, integrating a series of very important characteristics that now allow watches with A be a real alternative to the Apple Watch.

So far, we had seen as many functions of watches with androidwear, they were limited in terms of functions if they were paired with an iPhone. As of now, thanks to the new update, Apple Watch has more competition.

The first thing is to say that if you already have a smart watch that is not one of the Cupertino guys, You may have noticed that the watch was limited to a mere notifier on your wrist, but little else.

With the new update, it will finally be allowed to have non-native applications on your wrist, something highly anticipated. Now, third-party applications can develop to have an app on our wrist (something that the Apple Watch already does). Besides, the interface renovation is complete, incorporating also keyboard and / or handwriting to be able to reply to messages directly from the watch itself. The iMessage application would not be included here.

It also remains to be seen if we can pay with the watch itself using, yes, Android Pay (Apple Pay will not be available by Apple's decision.)

The watches that will have the opportunity to update they are not all. Currently, LG has released the first two models that will come by default with this new OS (LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport). Apart from these, the following list shows the devices that will gradually be updated to the new operating system:

  • LG G Watch R
  • LG Watch Urbane
  • LG Watch Urbane LTE
  • Moto 360 (2nd Gen)
  • Moto 360 Sport
  • Huawei Watch
  • Huawei Watch Ladies
  • Asus ZenWatch 2
  • Asus ZenWatch 3
  • polar M600
  • Casio Smart Outdoor Watch WSD-F10
  • Nixon Mission
  • Tag Heuer Connected
  • Fossil Q Wander
  • Fossil Q Marshal
  • Fossil Q Founder
  • Michael Kors Access Bradshaw Smartwatch
  • Michael Kors Access Dylan Smartwatch

Devices like the LG G Watch 1st generation, Moto 360 1st generation, and Sony Smartwatch 3Android wants with this to be a real competitor in the market of «Watch», something that in 2016 he didn't really get, like we recently saw in Soy de Mac.

It is important to know that these updates, although they are made official today, They will not be available until February 15, the day on which they will begin to be enabled on current clocks. In addition, two new watches of Google, which will be presented before the end of the first quarter of the year, which will come with the new integrated system.

This update can suppose in the year 2017 a real competition to the Apple Watch, which until now saw how its main competitors were unable to gain ground, due to existing limitations. We will see how this new update affects in the coming months.
