Android Wear, downhill and no brakes

Google's privileged position in the mobile ecosystem was more than enough reason for the search and mobile ecosystem giant to dive into creating an operating system for wearables, that wrist device that Pebble had started to popularize with users.

But over the years, the guys from Mountain View have seen the limitation imposed on manufacturers when it comes to customizing the Android Wear versions of their devices, together with the little pull that these devices have, have forced some manufacturers to stop betting not only on this platform temporarily, as is the case of Motorola, one of the first to bet on it.

The last big update to Android Wear was officially introduced in May of last year but It was not until earlier this year that it began to reach compatible devices. Since then, little else has been known about what the third generation of Android Wear should be.

The only news related to the evolution of this platform is found in Android Wear chief engineer abandonment, who has become part of the staff of Stripe, a mobile payments platform.

Chief Engineer Abandonment confirms that Android Wear needs a complete remodel, not only in its operation but also in offering more freedom to manufacturers who choose to use it. Currently Apple's watchOS and Samsung's Tizen are the most used platforms, well above Android Wear.

If Google still does not show signs of life, it may be that in the not too distant future, the manufacturers that continue to bet on smartwatches, choose to negotiate with Samsung and start adopting the Korean firm's operating system, an operating system that offers a much more optimized consumption, better performance and that currently has a large number of applications available.
