Another compelling reason why Apple should do without Intel

Apple Intel-CPU-0

The famous publication MIT Technology Review has already noted that Intel released a document to the general public last month in which it was noted that it is slowing down the "Tick-Tock" pace with which a new, more powerful architecture is produced and at the same time more efficient in the creation of chips, so the technology giant has decided to abandon this famous moore's law.

The latest Intel chips integrate a technology of 14 nanometer fabrication so it is increasingly difficult to reduce this process so that it is profitable for mass manufacturing, and the material (silicon) from which the chips are made is also reaching its limit.

Apple Intel-CPU-1

Specifically, Moore's Law stated that the computing power of computer equipment would double every two years determined in alternative "tock" cycles, where it would be used previous technologies «tick» of the manufacturing process of the previous cycle, to introduce a major innovation in the microarchitecture of the processor.

Today, Macs take longer to update their processors and the power jump is no longer as noticeable as before, this could now become even more serious. This could cause Apple to not be satisfied with the situation and may decide to manufacture its own chips for laptops and desktops with OS X system.

Remember that when it introduced its A7 chip for the iPhone, Apple described it as a "forward-thinking" processor and with a power «Desktop class», that is to say, at the height of the desktop computers although with evident distance.

Now the company describes the iPad Pro A9X chip as a CPU faster than 80% of notebook PCs released in the last 12 months in CPU tasks and 90% of notebook computers in graphics performance. I'm even sure that A10X and A11X processors are in development.

In my view, Apple should start optimizing its desktop software to adapt its capabilities to ARMv8 architecture and thus replace the Intel chips, which if you do not change course will become obsolete not long after.

Hahahaha with Apple's engineering in decline, I can't imagine a Mac with its own processor, it would be a good horror story, except for an Apple car ... God save us! we miss you Steve!

You do not know what you say. Apple hardware is better than ever. And its engineering is better than ever. What is wrong is the software. What there is to read

Totally agree Xavi, his hardware getting better and his software getting worse. iOS 6 was the last great Apple OS with iOS, it was very simple and I had to Jailbreak it, but it worked like silk. In iOS 7 there were many bugs but I no longer made Jailbreak, with iOS 8 and iOS 9 the same, but that of: iOS 9 will be a system based on performance and such ... I have a cousin with an iPhone 4S and DA ASCO, for that That it stays in iOS 8 honestly, and I also get certain failures especially in Mail with iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6S, also in unlocking the screen, sometimes it gets "caught" too long and things like that, in 9.3 it is not very often but it does happen. All the best

Yes yes, an iMac for € 1600 with a hard disk at 5.400rpm, a fourth generation i5 processor (we are in 2016, we are going for the sixth generation) a 4k screen moved by the processor itself, why yes, because apple is pure magic and do not need graphics, 8gb of ram ddr3 to 1600 ... and now, because there is no more. and there are still people who think that apple has powerful hardware…. scary

I am one of the many who worked with Apple and we have seen that even spending € 3000 on a new Mac has no performance compared to a € 1200 PC, and with how well Windows 10 and Windows 8.1 are doing and how bad they have mavericks, yosemite and el capitan come out ... sorry but i won't go back to apple.

And I write this from a macbook which disconnects my magic mouse and my magic keyboard every 2 minutes because the captain has a fault in the bluetooth and neither in the mac appstore nor in the apple technical support via web they know why and they only limit themselves to saying that we wait for a possible patch.

but yes, we have a little apple!
