Today Apple added 11 new locations to Flyover on Apple Maps both on Mac and iOS, highlighting very famous and tourist capitals in several countries such as France, Mexico, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United States and of course our country, Spain.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Flyover feature in Maps, just say that it is a feature added to Maps so that users can access a photo-realistic 3D mode with polygonal modeling of buildings and locations, to which tools for zooming, panning and the possibility of rotation are added to get a closer view of monuments and places of interest.

Some of the indicated places they may have previously been available as locations on Flyover. The full list of the new locations is as follows:

  • Monument Valley, Arizona
  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Pensacola, Florida
  • Mazatlan, Mexico
  • Annecy, France
  • Gorges de l'Ardèche, France
  • Antwerp, Belgium
  • Münster, Germany
  • Pamplona, Spain
  • Utrecht, The Netherlands

Flyover came to Maps from the hand of iOS in 2012, however for the last three years it has been improving to constantly add locations more and more detailed within Maps. Some time ago and with OS X Mavericks, Mac users could also access this interesting function.

Earlier this year, Apple updated some of the top Flyover locations with animated bookmarks, making the experience of use in Flyover even more immersive. Many locations on Flyover have an additional feature called City Tour that guides users through different points of interest in each of the cities.

Although I have used a very similar functionality in Google MapsIt is true that textures, rendering quality and details are more careful in Apple Maps.
