Apple changes the British and Australian voices of Siri

Siri Assistant

Like the Spanish that is spoken in Spain, it is not the same that is spoken in Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, or any other Spanish-speaking country, with English three-quarters of the same happens. Each country has a different accent and virtual assistants have to fight regularly with them. Apple currently only offers Siri in Spanish from Mexico and Spanish from Spain.

Siri is available in Australian, British and American English. To try and make Siri's language more natural and clear, the guys from Cupertino have quietly updated both the British and Australian voices for Siri on the HomePod. At the moment, we do not know in which regions it is available but it is causing a large number of anecdotes that we can find on social networks.

New HomePod

Most of the anecdotes that we can find in social networks are in regions where accents are very pronounced, so it is likely that Apple is progressively rolling out the availability of the new voices. When these are available, English-speaking users will be able to select the accent that best suits their way of speaking.

Apple began introducing more natural voices to Siri with the release of iOS 11 in 2017. Before that, Siri's robotic sound was often the subject of jokes, although it did not affect its functionality. Both Amazon's Alexa and Google Assistant are considered better than Siri both in terms of skills and when it comes to better understanding the interlocutor.

Apple is still working on developing Siri to try to offer a greater number of functionalities. Every year during WWDC, Apple claims that its assistant has improved considerably compared to the previous version, although sadly, the end user never quite sees the improvements that Apple claims to have made. Let's see if this year Siri takes off once and for all and becomes a more useful assistant than it is today.
