Apple discontinues 11-inch MacBook Airs and older MacBook Pros without Retina display

This is an open secret and in the end it has come true. If you browse the Apple website a bit, you will realize that two Mac models have been silently exiting forever. Apple no longer sells the 11-inch MacBook Airs and makes the only MacBook that still had a rotating disk and internal DVD drive disappear once and for all. the MacBook Pro without a 13-inch Retina display.

Now we have the 12-inch MacBook and of the MacBook Air only the 13-inch one is available for sale, which seen what is seen will be the one that is relegated to disappear in a few years as has happened with the 13-inch MacBook Pro without a Retina screen.

We've long wondered when Apple was going to get rid of the old MacBook Pro without a Retina display and an internal DVD drive that it still had for sale in its stores. Today, without saying anything, we can already see on the Apple website that this laptop has disappeared as well as the small Air, the 11-inch. In this way, the 13-inch MacBook Air becomes the lower range and has the price of the 11-inch MacBook.

It was clear that this was going to come today and it is that the confluence, for a long time, of the 12-inch MacBook and the 11-inch MacBook Air does not have much logic and the former are the ones that Apple wants to give importance right now together to the new MacBook Pro. In summary we can tell you that the laptops that are currently available on the Apple website are:

  • MacBook Air 13 inches.
  • MacBook 12 inch Retina display.
  • 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina previous generation (only one model of each).
  • New 13-inch MacBook Pros with and without Touch Bar.
  • New 15-inch Macbook Pro with Touch Bar.
