Apple ends the iTunes credit system in order to move users to the new system «En Familia»

iTunes-12.2.1

It seems that Apple wants to centralize its services and as of May 25 the iTunes credit system, known as »ITunes Allowance» that allowed a certain user who had an iTunes account with a registered credit card, to give credit to other accounts of family or friends so that they they could make iTunes purchases without having to register a credit card.

These users could establish the transfer of a certain amount of credit to the accounts they deem appropriate. Those credits ranged from $ 10 to $ 50. This system could only be used by Apple IDs belonging to the United States and that is why in Spain we have not heard much about this topic.

Apple is sending emails to users who have activated these credit transfers informing them that the service is going to stop working to take over from the "In Family" system that Apple launched for users around the world some time ago. With the «En Familia» system, a user You can add the Apple IDs of the people you want to be part of the service that will depend on your account that will be the main one.

The «En Familia» system works slightly differently and it is now possible to register up to a maximum of five family members who will have in common with the main user purchases of iTunes, iBooks and the App Store without having to use multiple cards.

Thus, all purchases are paid with the same credit card and, to avoid surprises, parents approve from their own device each expense that their children want to make. Plus, with the Apple Music Family Subscription, the family and main account can also have access to almost any song out there.

Therefore the »iTunes Allowance» system will work until May 25 and as of April 13, 2016 no new credit transfers can be made. In order to carry out this type of action, Apple informs that you must use the «Family Family» service or the «Send gifts from the iTunes Store» service. Credit not spent before May 25 will be added to the credit for the Apple ID ordered.
