Apple faces off against Australian Green Party over location of new Apple Store

For some time now, in Cupertino they have stopped opening Apple Store as we know them, to choose to open mega Apple Store, mega flagship Apple Store. The last example is found in the Apple Store located along the Michigan River in Chicago, an Apple Store that by the way, is suffering from different problems derived from its design As we have previously informed you in Soy de Mac.

At the end of the year we informed you of Apple's plans to open a new flagship Apple Store in Australia, specifically in Merlbourne, after giving the go-ahead from the government, but the Cupertino-based company has clashed with the Green Party of the country, who claims that the government has put corporate interests ahead of public ones.

The new Apple Store will be located in Federation Square, a square that so far sIt is used to organize public and institutional events, being a place commonly used for holding vigils or public protests. This political organization has managed to gather more than 95.000 signatures to be able to request the government to reconsider its decision and reconsider. But it will not be. The government has rejected the request of the Australian Green Party.

The country's government has been negotiating with Apple for more than two years in secret the location of this new and emblematic Apple Store, because the decision would not please everyone. Whichever way you look at it, both the government and Apple itself know that the location in a place used by citizens to express themselves publicly would not be to everyone's liking, yet Apple has preferred to opt for its commercial interests rather than surrender to the evidence.

According to the government, it has made this decision as it will allow improve access to the plaza and the Yarra River, It will be an important source of income for the city council and will also create 200 jobs during construction and another 25 jobs when the Apple Store opens its doors in 2020, if all deadlines are met.

Apple's business interests,  they can be very expensive for the company, since the square will continue to be a place to express the opinions of citizens and as we all know, not all do so peacefully and it is more than likely that the physical integrity of the store will be affected on more than one occasion. Once again it is shown that Apple is a company that seeks to make money as it is, although sometimes it has to face environmental groups as it has been on this occasion.
