Apple finally replaces discoveryd with mDNSresponder in the latest beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.4

The fourth beta of OS X Yosemite 10.10.4 launched just a day ago and aimed at developers begins to show certain details that make us think that the final version is not far away. One of these details is rather a significant change in the way the operating system handles network management, that is, this latest beta replaces the 'discoveryd' process that has caused so many problems by mDNSResponder, a much more stable system which OS X has been using for over 12 years.

Discoveryd was first introduced in OS X Yosemite and is now superseded by mDNSResponder for both the network administration and management as for the specific DNS services for OS X, iOS ... One of the possible causes of this change is that Apple has been trying to fix the malfunction of the Wi-Fi connections in Yosemite, remember that for many users it has been a real problem upside down.

With almost every release of Yosemite in its different versions, it has been more or less affected by this problem, however despite Apple's efforts To fix it, the problems have persisted. Now with the removal of discoveryd hopefully it will at least fix most of the network problems users have been experiencing.

The Discoveryd process caused a wide range of network problems, notably various DNS errors, resolve duplicate machine names or bonjour protocol misregistration.

Many believed that the inclusion of discoveryd was tailor-made for AirDrop and Continuity in Yosemite, but those features still work even though the process in charge is mDNSResponder instead of discoveryd and it has been shown to work today with the fourth beta of 10.10.4. Currently, we do not know if Apple has temporarily replaced the process to correct the errors and restore the service in the final version, but for now, everything seems to work correctly.
