According to the boys of Wall Street Journal, Apple TV + executives contacted Paramount to offer to purchase the rights to the film Top Gun: Maverick. Netflix had the same idea, but the Paramount executives they refused to sit down to negotiate.
From Paramount they are convinced that Top Gun: Maverick will be a big hit when the epidemic calms down definitely. Seeing the current panorama and that we are already in the third wave, I am not very clear when this film will be able to be released in theaters to make it the success that Paramount expects.
Not the first try
Both Apple and Netflix negotiated with MGM the possible premiere of another of the expected films for 2021, Daniel Craig's latest movie as agent 007 No time to die. The problem was the price.
MGM was asking $ 600 million, an amount that both Apple and Netflix refused to pay. According to different sources, Apple was willing to pay 400 million dollars maximum.
