Apple is developing iPads, MacBooks and iMacs with Mini-LED displays

Korean analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has again commented on interesting new news. He has good contacts with the suppliers of components that supply the assembly lines of Apple devices, and usually his leaks are well founded and end up being a reality.

Today's leak is related to the next screens that Apple will use in six new devices. They are with a new mini-LED system. They will be screens with higher resolution, lower consumption, thinner, more flexible, and without the burn-in effect of OLED panels.

This morning, Kuo sent a note to Apple investors explaining the news regarding the new mini-LED displays. If production is not delayed by the coronavirus, he points out that six new devices will be released between 2020 and 2021 with this new system of LED screens.

According to Kuo, Apple is developing a 12,9-inch iPad Pro, 27-inch iMac Pro, 14,1-inch MacBook Pro, 16-inch MacBook Pro, 10,2-inch iPad, and 7,9-inch iPad mini. All these devices will mount mini-LED screens.

It has only given release dates for the iMac Pro (fourth quarter of 2020) and for the iPad mini, which will be during this year. For the rest of the announced devices, there is no scheduled date yet.

The 14,1-inch MacBook Pro is surprising for being a new screen size within the MacBook Pro family. The mention of the iMac Pro is also noteworthy, since Apple has not renewed them since its launch in 2017. In a previous note, Kuo already pointed out that the 16-inch MacBook would receive a new mini-LED screen this year, which would coincide with the launch of the 14,1 inch.

He ends the note by adding that the 12,9-inch mini-LED version of the iPad Pro will be released in the fall of this year. Rumors suggest that it will be an update with a new screen of the iPad Pro versions that are presented this spring.
