Yes, many of us already have our heads set on the new macOS Sierra operating system, but the truth is that we are still in El Capitan and the guys from Cupertino do not miss their appointment to launch the one that It is the third beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.6.

This new beta, as in the previous versions released, does not show us the details of what was added, much less specify if there is any news in it. What we are clear about is that the future for most users right now is macOS Sierra 10.12 and the rest can wait.

Apple has in mind to leave ready without any failure this latest version of what we know as OS X El Capitan, so that when we make the leap to the new operating system everything is in place. I will NOT install the «OS Sierra» for 2 reasons, 1.- there are always problems with the first version. 2.- I have some programs that the AppStore does not sell and as I understand «Sierra» will not tolerate that I install anything that does not come from the AppStore so my MacBook Pro will stay with the Captain until something else is available.

I agree with Juanjose with the risks of the new Apple OS, I have installed macOS Sierra in a virtual machine, and I have verified that I cannot install external programs to the App Store, one of them is MatLab, necessary programming software In multiple sectors, this means that I will not be able to upgrade to the new OS.
I think it is a mistake on Apple's part to cap this way, although I understand that they do it to avoid failures caused by seconds.
If there are developers in this forum, it would be convenient to request a terminal from Apple to install external software

Yes, third-party programs can be installed. What happens is that it is not so obvious. You download the program to Sierra's desktop, right-click it and "open" and the program installs. It is what I just read in a forum. You will tell me.
