Apple releases watchOS 4.0.1 only for series 3 to fix connectivity issues with LTE

We will not have the LTE version of the Apple Watch series 3 in Spain at least until 2018, as Apple is finalizing details with the telephone operators. It is a shame not to be able to enjoy the LTE functions on the Apple Watch, but for now we forget about the small inconveniences that arise with a new product.

One of them has to do with the Wi-Fi connections of the series 3, specifically with the configuration of the connection to networks. Since Wi-Fi connections consume less power than LTE connections, Apple Watch is set to connect as soon as possible to a Wi-Fi connection.

Now, there are more and more public connections (restaurants, hotels, shopping centers, etc.), but we must first sign up for this service. Therefore, the Apple Watch series 3 tries to connect without being able to download data and is left in limbo.

Therefore, Apple has detected this issue through users and has corrected this error in the version 4.0.1. The Apple Watch will search for known iPhone Wi-Fi networks first. This version is available for download through its official application on the iPhone. The same update notes speak of correcting errors in Wi-Fi connections, giving priority to the LTE connection when we are facing a public network.

We will see if this measure does not excessively harm battery consumption, which is a workhorse on the Apple Watch. In this sense, the first users indicate a battery life longer than previous versions.

Even so, this version is incomplete, if we start from Apple's promise to bring us music over LTE, at least with the service of Apple Music. Also, other music apps, such as applications to listen to radio stations, would be available in a future version 4.1 by watchOS, which we hope to see shortly.
